How Terrible, the Undergrowth's Jaws That Tangle (2012)
Mediafire
Saw a blog post describe this band as similar to Chon so I had to check them out. After listening through it once I can see this is an album I am going to have to come back to again. This is the band's debut album and they killed it! Glad to see this scene is growing, get this album!

Periphery
Periphery II: This Time It's Personal (2012)
Zippyshare
This band's got talent, no matter how you look at it. Each song is filled with so much variation, from danceable train rides to bone crushing heaviness. I think Spencer's vocals have found their place in the band, many times reaching epic levels. The lyrical content is filled with powerful and motivational messages; that's what's going to stick to me.

Eleanor Quigley
The Captain Chair (2012)
Soundcloud
Eleanor Quigley is a local East Lansing, MI two piece band. Both of the band members are good friends of mine so if you would take a look at their new EP and show them some love that would be awesome. Mostly math rock with a couple of metal/grindcore tracks at the end.

Circa Survive - Suitcase
Violent Waves (Aug 28th, 2012)
And it's here, Circa Survive announces their fourth full length album will be released August 28th and a fall tour will follow. The first single entitled "Suitcase" is available for free on their official page. I have watched this band grow and am amazed at their persistent hard work, and they do it all for the fan. I'm proud to call myself a Circa fan and can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

Post Rock band from Southern Mexico City, unfortunately I don't have too much more information on them, but after giving these tracks a listen I started to really enjoy it so maybe you will too.

Toe released their fourth EP today! Toe is easily one of my favorite instrumental groups so if you still have yet to hear them I highly recommend checking them out. Check out my earlier blog posts for more of the band's discography here.

Another Japanese math rock trio that digs sick drum beats, finger tapping, and cats. They are giving away these three EP's for free over at their blog, although its totally in Japanese so I made them a little more available for you right here, enjoy.

Sajjanu
Pechiku!! (2009)
Mediafire
More Japanese math rock! From the band's Last.fm page:
"Sajjanu is a ripping new unit from Tokyo that performs incredibly complex through-composed compositions with few if any repetition. Performed with an intensity and power that is absolutely staggering, this trio of two guitars and drums sounds like a full orchestra and is one of the most exciting young bands in Japan today."

Nuito
Unutella (2008)

From Last.fm:
"Nuito are an experimental math rock/post-rock trio who formed in Kyoto, Japan in 2004. Their music is defined by tapping guitars, slap bass and spastic drums. Nuito rapidly changes time signatures and insert new melodies in the middle of their songs, creating a very unique sound. Their experimental attitude is not about musical destruction or collaboration, but reconstruction."
Rega
Million (2009)

Rondorina (2008)

Meet Rega, a four piece jam band from Japan. Lots of math rock influence but they pull inspiration from techno, IDM, and breakbeat. This is my ideal party music, but too bad no one else would be able to stand it! They remind me of LITE in a lot of ways. It looks as if a new album is scheduled to come out sometime this year as well, entitled Soft and Plum. I'll be on the lookout for it, but until then you should listen to both these albums and show your support for this amazing music scene.

Sezession (2007)

Time for a Japanese math rock dump. Mouse on the Keys is a Tokyo based three piece instrumental band. They fuse jazz elements with math rock style. Incredible piano layers over swift drumming leaves the songs swelling with energy. Check it out!

Hmmm I somehow just discovered that David Davison of Maps and Atlases has his own solo EP out. Using the singer/songwriter approach, David writes 6 songs just under the 3 minute mark. Artistic, catchy, and sung by the beautiful voice of David himself, what's not to like?
