The well renowned  math rock band from Oxford, England plan to release their newest album on January 22nd, 2013. Anticipation for the album within the math rock community is at an all time high. Two songs are available to listen to right now, but the rest are still a mystery. This Town Needs Gun's previous vocalist really gave the band their unique sound, and many fans were concerned when he left the band at the end of their last EP. With the release of the new album's two songs, entitled "Cat Fantastic"  and "Left Aligned", most of the concern has ceased, and the newest member and vocalist to the band, Henry Tremain, is being welcomed with open arms. His voice and style fits right along with TTNG's classic feeling. This new album is currently my most anticipated of 2013.

Incredible musician from Poland, his music is a woven blend of jazz and metal styles. The music feels godlike and divine, the guitarist's talent is just off the charts. He seems to be rather unheard off, I hope he plans to release more music but I believe this is all there is, but it is more than enough to start with. The production quality is amazing considering its only a demo.

After the final song ended, I was curious what the title of such a song might be, and I wasn't even surprised when I saw it was called "The Pursuit of Hapiness."  Awesome, powerful, uplifting, feel good progressive metal, fo free.

Holy shit, finally something comes around that truly blows my mind. You should really give this song a listen, this band deserves recognition. The three piece brings together the best bass tapping I've ever heard, spicy and cerebral guitar riffs, and pulsating drum rhythms, but my favorite part has to be the vocals. With lines like "Those memories are genetically engineered vegetables, that grow in the cold rows, fed with red dye", "The house is dressed in skeletal lighting" and "I spoke in smoke, they all looked like candies", I am reminded of writers like Jon Mess and Primus.

This is the sophomore album of a killer Chicago four piece band. This is one of the better math rock oriented bands I've come across in awhile. They blend the best parts of rock, metal, and jazz to create their own genre they call ghost rock. They have a fast paced in your face style, leading to heavy builds and melodic breakdowns. I would highly recommend this four song album. The first song clocks just over six minutes and the last reaches sixteen. Ingest the anaesthetic.

 Three members of this band are brothers to Omar Rodriquez-Lopez, frontman to acts such as The Mars Volta, At the Drive In, and El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriquez Lopez. Instrumental progressive metal with jazz and Latin infusions. This band is stretching the borders of music, but I wouldn't expect less from the Rodriquez-Lopez family. I can't leave out Michael Farraro on the drums and Matthew Wilkson on guitar.

After a quick Google search I found that Kebnekaise is the name of the highest mountain in Sweden. Now that we got that little fact out of the way, Wot Gorilla? released their first full length album a matter of days ago. I am really excited to listen to this album after being thoroughly impressed by the earlier EP's. Wot Gorilla? is just one of those bands that really stand out as their own genre. The lead singer's voice is the perfect compliment to the complex use of tapping, time signature changes, and melodic breakdowns that seem to put a weight on your chest. This album really stands out on first listen and I'm sure this will soon grow to become one of my favorites.

Oh and hey Wot, nice job with the screams.
