The Velocity Raptors is an ambitious math rock/post rock band with an upbeat in your face feel. The instrumental's have a poppy punky twist that put a smile on my face at first listen. The music could be mistaken as the soundtrack to a cartoon, with its adventurous feel and dreamy loops. This two song EP is available on their bandcamp page, along with another former release. This band is great and they need to get discovered and get the recognition they deserve. I would highly suggest checking out the Red and Blue Version's to start. Blue Version is my favorite, incredible mathy guitar work under the lead singers unique voice and singing style. Check them out!

Thunderstorms

I was just recommended this from a friend recently. He said he thought it would fit my taste perfectly and he was right. Thunderstorms is an instrumental pop punk band from Canada that incorporates a technical side with math and post rock influences. The music is positive, jammy and rarely repetitive. It's albums like these that you can play from start to finish without skipping a song (or even realize that the song changed). This shit's like explosions in the sky with an upbeat pop aspect.

The band's entire discography is available for free download by the artist himself. If you dig these EP's then get excited for a full length to drop sometime in the future. Looks like I will be searching for more instrumental pop rock in the coming days!

This band is from the UK and consists of four members. This is onw of my favorite Math/Pop bands and I highly suggest you listen to them! They play math/indie rock with a pop influence. The vocals are great to sing along with and the riffs are always all over the place, in a good way of course. If you like the band Colour or Damiera then you'll enjoy this as well. Check out the second track "Baboon", the intro leaves me speechless.

 Adventure, Stamina, Anger (2011)

Brilliant! This Town Needs Guns recently release a two song EP called Adventure, Stamina, and Anger. I was surprised to see new material and actually paid the $1.98 for the two songs. A new full length is being recorded but with a different vocalist. I am sad to see Stu leave the band, but I understand his situation and am more than grateful that he made these two parting songs before he left. The first song on the EP has been on repeat for me, it just gets to me.
